Dave Hewitt very kindly sent through some of his images taken around the narrow gauge yesterday afternoon.
We are already planning to develop the wood-sawing display and hope to repeat this in September for the Agricultural Show. Maybe a timber tramway will be next on the list for this area…
Below: Finally, a view of Dave and I with Samson. Testing of this as a locomotive will continue shortly, though we already know that the front end needs substantial ballasting, for which provision was allowed. The similar locomotives built by Lewin for Guinness ended up with very substantial weights either side of the smokebox, suggesting they too suffered from a rear-end imbalance, only to be expected with such a long footplate overhang. The engine unit is running-in nicely and Dave has had a lot of attention during this event!
